Artistic events presenting Vietnamese figures of global influence held in HCMC

The “Living Heritage – Legacy for the Future” exhibition and the jazz night “Immersed” took place in Ho Chi Minh City on November 15.

The “Living Heritage – Legacy for the Future” exhibition offered a multidimensional art space featuring visual works, calligraphy and multimedia projections that retraced the lives, ideas and inspirations of Vietnamese figures with global influence across medicine, finance, culture and the arts. The project includes several key initiatives, notably the development of the multimedia platform livingheritage.vn and the annual Living Heritage e-book series, whose first volume, The Universal Within, was recently presented to the public.

The jazz night “Immersed” brought together international and Vietnamese artists, including Vietnamese-born Danish jazz pianist Sir Niels Lan Doky, American bassist Felix Pastorius, Danish drummer Jonas Johansen, People's Artist Thanh Lam, singer Ha Tran, saxophonist Quyen Thien Dac and many others.

Recognized as a pioneer of modern European jazz, Sir Niels Lan Doky has captivated global audiences performing on renowned stages such as Carnegie Hall (USA), Royal Albert Hall (UK) and Blue Note Tokyo (Japan), as well as at major international festivals.

Sir Niels Lan Doky’s return to Vietnam after nearly two decades is not only an important artistic occasion but also a deeply personal journey, marking his renewed connection to his Vietnamese roots.

At the same time, the Living Heritage Foundation was officially launched to support development activities in culture, education and healthcare. Its first initiative is a partnership to award the Nguyen Thai Binh Scholarship to students affected by floods, with a total fund of VND 500 million (USD 19,000).
